Australian Poems: Alcheringa | My Australia | Uluru
Poem By Mick Leigh
I love the dingo, it's a noble dog
and I love the Wallaby too.
I love the Possums large and small
and I love the Kangaroo.
The Wedge-Tailed Eagle that flies so high
and the magpie that wakes me with a song.
I love the sound of the didgeridoo
and the singing of ancient song.
The whispers of the Silky Oak
and the sigh of the Casuarina.
The Mountain Ash so straight and tall
and the big red sun when the day is done.
These are the things I dearly love
this is my Australia.
This poem is from my book The Big Book of Bonza Poems which is available to buy here
